What If Failure Isn’t Real?
I’ve got an interesting question for you to ponder today… what if failure isn’t real? What if, instead of succeeding or failing, you either achieve your goal, or you learn a lesson? Read on to learn how to reframe “failure” in your business and embrace these moments of challenge as opportunities for growth.
“Failure” Is Necessary
An essential step in facing and embracing change as an entrepreneur is failing. Yes, you read that right; I am encouraging you to fail. In fact, I encourage you to fail hard, fail often, and allow yourself to fall flat on your face sometimes.
Why??
Because I don’t actually believe that failure is a thing.
Maybe you didn’t sell as many program seats during launch week as you had hoped.
Maybe you read an email wrong and wasted a day putting together an incorrect proposal.
Maybe you lost two clients this month.
Cue the light bulb moment… none of these scenarios depict failure!
Reframing “Failures” as Opportunities For Growth
Instead, what these scenarios provide is an opportunity to grow! Anytime you are tested, challenged, or faced with a hard decision, you are given a chance to learn, grow, and make it better for next time.
That might look like a chance to give your program launch a facelift, a reminder to slow down when reading emails, or a lesson on customer retention best practices.
Just because you didn’t get the result you hoped for doesn’t mean the experience doesn’t hold immense, business-changing value.
So the next time you think you have “failed,” stop, assess the situation, and see what you can learn from it.
Ask yourself, “what is this experience designed to teach me?”
Then you can make the necessary changes to come out the other side wiser, more prepared, and better for it.
